Stephen L.
Private tutor in Carlisle, MA
Education
I attend UC Berkeley and am in the class of 2017. I have a 3.5 GPA as an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Major with a minor in Mathematics.
Experience
This previous semester I was a tutor for the UC Berkeley CS Scholars program. I scored a 2330 on my SAT's (800 writing, 790 math, and 740 reading) and received 5's on the Math and physics AP test sophomore year in high school earning me an AP Scholar Award. At Berkeley I have taken the following computer science and mathematics classes: Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs, Data Structures, Computer Architecture, Discrete Math and Probability, Systems and Signals, Microelectronic Circuits, Linear Algebra & Differential Equations, Artificial Intelligence, Efficient Algorithms, Optimization Models in Engineering, Introduction to Embedded Systems, Probability and Random Process, Introduction to Analysis. Lastly, I participated in undergraduate research this semester at the International Computer Science Institute on the subject of natural language understanding. I want to be a tutor as I thoroughly enjoy helping others learn; I had a great time tutoring this past semester and would love to be able to continue tutoring with my spare time.

Hobbies
As someone who inevitably spends a lot of time in front of a computer, I love anything that will get me outdoors and moving. I particularly enjoy backpacking, rock climbing and running. In high school wrestling was my main sport, however as Berkeley does not have a wrestling team I have just participated in other IM sports such as soccer and ultimate frisbee. When I'm home in Massachusetts I enjoy woodworking if I have time, a skill I learned while at the Fenn school.
